I've told you before and I'll tell you again- I LOVE cheese! I don't think I go a day without eating some type of cheese. And usually I have 6-8 different types in my fridge at a time. Cheese is pretty pricey so anytime I can get a good deal on it, I stock up. This week there's a great deal going on at Lowe's Food stores. It's the Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle! This isn't the ordinary "Lego" set that I grew up with. This Lego set has hinges and doors, flames on torches, stairs that swivel, and much, much more. It's AMAZING! My In-Laws had as...
Happy 5th Birthday, Emma!!!
My baby is turning 5 today. She is SOOO excited about this age, and the fact that the dentist told her 2 days ago that her two bottom teeth were loose. I keep telling her she's going to look like a jack-o-lantern but she doesn't seem to mind:) I received the Picaboo book in the mail yesterday and it's all wrapped up and ready for Emma to open up. It came out REALLY nice. Can't believe I...

Making a photobook is similar to scrapbook...

Vita Mix Blender – The Kitchen Appliance No Home Should Be Without
I've got to be honest with you. I hate infomercials. I also don't care much for sales Kiosks where fast-talking snake oil salesmen wearing headset microphones attempt to mesmerize you with their clever words and trivial knowledge. In fact, the Vita Mix blender Kiosk at our local Costco had been up and running for several months before we finally approached it during one of our latest visits. Prior...

I’ve Started Buying Organic Foods

Posted By: Elena on February 11, 2010 in All Natural, Lowes Foods, Organic - Comments: No Comments »

This week I focused on buying some organic foods to add to our pantry and fridge.  Because I began stockpiling food last year, I still have a lot of conventional food in my pantry.  We are really focusing on finishing it all, so that we can make the switch over to healthier, natural and organic foods.  Here is a picture of the items we picked up.

My daughter Emma wanted some string cheese so I bought her the Horizon organics brand.  Unfortunately, she didn’t like the taste too much.  I thought they were REALLY good.  I have had quite a few brands of string cheese before and thought they were all pretty rubbery.  So I finished off her first stick.  Today, she asked for another one….and she ate the whole thing!

I think it’s a matter of getting used to the new textures and flavors with organics.  Some things don’t taste that good while others taste better.  It’s also tough when you are used to eating so many things with High Fructose Corn Syrup and now you aren’t eating them.  I know there is an “adapting” phase to go through, but I hope with a bit of time and an open mind, we will all get used to healthier, “pesticide-free” foods.

I look forward to trying the Heinz organic ketchup.  I LOVE Heinz ketchup!  It’s always been my favorite brand of Ketchup.  I am interested in trying other brand “organic” ketchups, but wanted to start with my favorite one first to compare the taste with something familiar to me.

The Full Circle Chocolate Chip cookies were really good.  Emma seemed to really enjoy them.  We had some friends over and they enjoyed them too!

The tomato puree from Full Circle is a favorite of mine.  I bought it for the first time about a year ago when I needed it for a recipe and it was really good.  I have been buying it ever since.  I tried the Hunt’s tomato puree once and my sauce did not come out as good.   So far, all the things I have purchased from the Full Circle brand have been really good.  I highly recommend them.

Lowes Food’s InstaSave E-Offers Program

Posted By: Elena on January 23, 2010 in InstaSave, Lowes Foods - Comments: No Comments »

I do most of my grocery shopping at Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter. When Lowes Foods switched over to the Fresh Rewards Program, they also added an electronic coupons program called InstaSave.

I LOVE this new program because you choose the coupons you want from a list provided on their site and download them to your Fresh Rewards card, making it easy to save money without clipping any coupons.

Here is a list of the current e-coupons on my card:

Item Limit Save
2 7 Up or Diet 7 Up 2-liters Limit 1 0.50
Litehouse Bleu Cheese Crumbles – 4oz Limit 99 1.00
Litehouse Caramel Dip -Original, Low Fat Limit 99 1.00
Litehouse Strawberry Glaze Limit 99 1.00
No Yolks Pasta Extra Broad /Dumplings-12oz Limit 5 0.75
Full Circle Organic Pizza Limit 1 1.00
Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk Limit 4 1.00

If I purchase any of the above items while at Lowes, the amount of money listed in the “Save” column, will be deducted from my grocery bill just like a coupon would be. The only difference is the savings line on my receipt will read “InstaSave” and then the amount.

Once you have added all the e-coupons that you want, you can either print out the list to bring with you to the store, or you can have them email it to you. I usually have it emailed to me because this way, I always have the list with me on my mobile phone.

The e-coupons selected usually last about 1 month. At the beginning of each month, a new list of coupons is added to the InstaSave database and the old ones are deleted.

If you are not signed up for this program, you are missing out on extra savings. To sign up today click here.

If you have any questions about this program, or need help signing up for it, let me know.
